As pesticides are potentially harmful substances it is essential that they are handled, applied and stored by people who have received proper training.
Course outline
the requirements of current legislation
using pesticides appropriately and safely
keeping records
storing pesticides correctly
cleaning equipment
disposing of unwanted pesticides and containers
dealing with contamination and poisoning incidents
The course prepares trainees for NPTC assessment (which is carried out on a separate day) in The Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1)
Field Crop Sprayer 1 Day Course
Hand Held Applicator 1 Day Course
Granular Applicator 1 Day Course
After completion of the Safe Use of Pesticides trainees may undertake one or more of the above courses.
Course Outline
applying pesticides safely and efficiently
identifying and selecting appropriate nozzles or restrictors
preparing and calibrating the equipment
operating the equipment in compliance with current legislation and codes of practice
cleaning equipment
disposing of unwanted pesticides and containers
identifying and rectifying faults
recognising conditions when spraying is inadvisable
