Safe Use of Pesticides
1 Day Course

As pesticides are potentially harmful substances it is essential that they are handled, applied and stored by people who have received proper training.

Course outline
  • the requirements of current legislation
  • using pesticides appropriately and safely
  • keeping records
  • storing pesticides correctly
  • cleaning equipment
  • disposing of unwanted pesticides and containers
  • dealing with contamination and poisoning incidents

The course prepares trainees for NPTC assessment (which is carried out on a separate day) in The Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1)

Field Crop Sprayer   1 Day Course
Hand Held Applicator    1 Day Course


After completion of the Safe Use of Pesticides trainees may undertake one or more of the above courses.

Course Outline

  • applying pesticides safely and efficiently
  • identifying and selecting appropriate nozzles or restrictors
  • preparing and calibrating the equipment
  • operating the equipment in compliance with current legislation and codes of practice
  • cleaning equipment
  • disposing of unwanted pesticides and containers
  • identifying and rectifying faults
  • recognising conditions when spraying is inadvisable

The course prepares trainees for NPTC assessment (which is carried out on a separate day) for Field Crop Sprayer (PA2) and Hand Held Applicator (PA6).
